I've mentioned it before, but Fred does very well in this kind of informal chat video, which is not really an ad. But what if this is what Fred's ads will look like? Breaking the monotony of the generic campaign ad might be a smart thing for Thompson to do, since he is probably the only candidate who could effectively pull it off.
