Up to 40% of the packaging used by some of the UK's biggest supermarkets can't be recycled.
Research carried out by the Local Government Assocation warns that unless the chains cut back on the amount of packaging they use, the UK is likely to miss its recycling targets.
Independent shops and market stalls are doing much better.
