Should pupils get free school meals?

A pilot scheme being launched in Scotland will see primary school pupils aged between five and seven get a free school meal.

The Scottish Executive are providing 5million for the scheme which will see all pupils aged between five and seven get a free school meal, regardless of income.

The scheme will be piloted initially in the Borders, East Ayrshire, Fife, Glasgow and West Dunbartonshire, but it could be extended across Scotland.

The pilot has been set up to see if providing a nutritious lunch for all children could help improve their diets.

What do you think of this scheme? Would you like to see all school children get a free school meal? Is this a way to teach children about nutrition and ensure they eat a healthy balanced diet?
