Is it time to change policy in Iraq?

How long can US President Bush pursue his current strategy in Iraq?

President Bush has spoken again of the need to orevent Iraq from becoming a failed state.

Earlier this week the US ambassador to Iraq, Zalmay Khalilzad, has said success in Iraq is possible within a realistic timeframe - despite the difficulties facing US forces.

The top US military commander in Iraq General George Casey said Iraq's own armed forces should be able to take over security responsibility within the next twelve to eighteen months with minimal American support.

Do you believe coalition troops can defeat extremist forces in Iraq? What do you consider to be a "realistic timeframe" for the withdrawal of coalition troops? Should Washington open dialogue with Syria and Iran to try to resolve the conflict?

We will be discussing the situation in Iraq in our global phone-in programme Have Your Say this Sunday 29 October at 1400GMT. If you would like to take part please include your phone number with your message. Your phone number will not appear on the site.
