Madonna claims that the media discourages other people from adopting, and "is doing a great disservice to all the orphans of Africa".
The popstar, who sponsors six orphanages, is now engaged in a legal tangle over custody of one-year-old David Banda with Malawian organisations who claim that foreign adoptive parents should have lived in Malawi for 18 months.
