Candidate Reax to Southwick's Confirmation

Here are some candidate reactions to the Senate's confirmation today of Judge Leslie Southwick to the Fifth Circuit:

Rudy:

Today the Senate did the right thing in confirming Judge Leslie Southwick to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Judge Southwick is a man whose qualifications to be on the Court of Appeals -- highlighted by distinguished service to the public and his country -- are only exceeded by his respect for the Constitution and the rule of law.

Thompson:

I'm pleased that the Democrats put partisan politics aside to confirm Judge Leslie Southwick. He has served his country in many different ways, and now will serve the people of this country and the rule of law from the federal bench.

Romney:

Today, the Senate finally acted to give a qualified nominee like Judge Leslie Southwick a fair vote. For months, partisan loyalties came before constitutional responsibilities. Judge Southwick has served his nation proudly and today, his nation has honored that service.

Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Joe Biden all voted no. Chris Dodd did not vote.
