The Conservative leader David Cameron is calling for a coherent long term strategy to deal with Britain's predicted population growth. What do you think of his ideas?
In his first major speech on the issue, Mr Cameron said that a Tory government would introduce strict annual limits of migrants coming into the UK from outside the European Union.
Latest projections from the Office for National Statistics forecast that Britain's population - currently just over 60 million - will hit 71 million by 2031, partly because of rising birth rates and the fact that people are living longer.
Mr Cameron called for more joined up thinking to help improve the skills of Britain's workforce, and address the problem of family breakdown which causes people to live alone. He also wants better border controls and more public service planning.
But opposition parties have accused Mr Cameron of making "populist soundbites" without having the policies to back his ideas up.
What is your reaction to David Cameron's proposals? Are you concerned about the impact of population growth on public services and schools? How do you think Britain should tackle the challenge?
